The Arts and The Sanctuary Project

What if community organizing, organizational development, strategic planning, project management, group communications, web sites/social media, curriculum development/implementation, music, arts and other skills were applied to create an active, exciting, inviting network of faith and spiritual based communities in the Coachella, Morongo, and Yucca Valleys?

Through “The Arts and The Sanctuary Project,” The Desert Interfaith Council is interested in networking Faith Communities around the Arts and in initiatives toward establishing programs that leverage the creative talents of members of our Faith Communities as teachers, musicians, artists, actors, or group facilitators.

Are You interested in the Arts and the Faith Community?

  • Are you a member of the clergy with an appreciation of the role of the arts in your ministry?
  • Are you a music director or choir leader interested in networking with other congregational leaders?
  • Are you an educator who uses art in your religious school programs?
  • Are you involved in creating the worship experience for your faith community?
  • Are you an artist, musician, actor who finds inspiration and  spiritual comfort in the arts?
  • Would you like to join a study group on the arts and spirituality?

If any of the above apply to you, please contact us using the form below.

Possible Valley wide “The Arts and The Sanctuary” initiatives:

  • Can you imagine an area-wide study of the creation stories in Genesis that culminates in an exhibit of artworks contributed by participants from our faith communities.
  • Can you imagine a similar program on Jonah, with maps to exhibits at faith communities distributed around the Coachella, Morongo, and Yucca Valleys.
  • Can you imagine an area-wide celebration of faith in the form of a concert with singers, musicians, choirs, and performance artists, in multiple languages and ethnicities, all focusing on variations of the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah.”

If you have any of the skills or experience applicable to this effort,

or would be interested in developing these knowledge and skill sets as you volunteer in this initiative,

please contact us using the form below.

We are excited to hear from you!
